FILM WORK

Aries has now been involved in three film productions in the last 12 months.  He has both an excellent temperament and fantastic presence which makes him very popular for screen roles.  His first break was as the lead horse in the £30 million mediaeval epic 'Arn - The Knight Templar', which involved shooting at various locations in Scotland and being ridden by a young actor, stunt double, and the main lead. At the beginning of this year he was used as a 'hanging horse', carrying a criminal to specially built gallows and galloping away to leave the man hanging in a short reworking of a Bram Stoker novel. (photos coming soon)

We have just completed a day filming at Glencoe for a Dutch Production called 'The Letter for the King' where Jan doubled as the main leads (hero and villain!) and was filmed from a low-flying helicopter for some galloping scenes. (photos below)

The Letter for the King is a Dutch Film based on a popular Dutch novel about a young would-be knight who finds a dying messenger and vows to deliver his letter to the king.  It is released this summer in Holland.

Jan and Aries doubled as the hero riding through woodland and the villain pursuing him.  A helicopter camera crew followed them closely as they galloped down tracks and even circled around to give a 360^o view.  Aries wasn't at all concerned about the chopper even though it was swooping around just a few hundred feet away. 

The photo at the top of the page was taken between takes at the magnificent second location in Glencoe - bystanders thought we were either filming Harry Potter or the Scottish version of Zorro!

Arn is the story of a young monk who is forced to crusade to the Holy Land after falling in love with a local girl.  The film is due to be released internationally once the sequel (which was filmed simultaneously) is finished. 

We filmed at a variety of locations over the course of a week and Aries was faced with smoke machines, swords, castles and hairy extras, which he ignored!     Click the Arn logo for the official website
